Adrien Lhommedieu

Adrien Lhommedieu grew up in Berck-sur-Mer. Following a visual shock induced by watching numerous films, he becomes aware of the power of imagery and chooses, as an adolescent, to carve out his professional future in visual creation. He studies audiovisual techniques at the Faculty of Science and Technology in Valenciennes (DREAM, audiovisual and multimedia program) from his Bachelor's to Master's degree. In parallel with his Master's, he attends the Arts program at the University of Valenciennes for three years. The end of his studies coincides with the first public exhibitions of his photographic work, marked by the influence of cinema and fiction. "In Adrien's work, human identity is meant to be ambiguous, at the border between a poetic space and a disconcerting universe that could be associated with the expressionism of Fritz Lang in terms of approaching light and framing, or with the more contemporary style of Jeff Wall in the symbolic and metaphorical relationship of composed subjects" (Sandrine Caruso, Visual Artist, 2008). At the end of his studies, he embarks on a professional internship at the Film Department of the French Consulate in Los Angeles. This enriching experience fuels his love for international cinema and leads him to meet his future producer, Julien Mabin. Upon his return to France, he establishes a production company in Lille with which he develops the film "Lila & Valentin," a short film that has won 12 awards and been selected in 21 festivals worldwide. His photographic approach intensifies and seems to crystallize around a mannerist gesture, seeking to achieve plastic virtuosity by borrowing from film production methods and heavily influenced by Gregory Crewdson. This period marks the artist's unifying energy, not hesitating to involve numerous teams to bring to life grandiose projects, such as creating a genuine photographic tableau paying homage to the American decadence painter Terry Rodgers, featuring over 25 models. The year 2012 is a turning point in Adrien's life. His mother dies suddenly from leukemia. Deeply affected by this sudden loss, which coincides with a loss of artistic bearings, he decides to stop photography and focus on film directing. He dissolves his company and moves to Versailles, where he still resides today. He collaborates with Universal Music, Sony, L'Oréal, Polydor, and the Ministry of Public Finance for numerous music videos and commercials broadcast on television. In 2017, he resumes photography with a completely new approach, contrasting with his youth. By working exclusively with analog photography, Adrien embarks on a quest for sincerity and authenticity, bearing witness to the beauty that surrounds him. He sheds the artifices of fiction and seeks to embrace reality to capture its grace and elegance. His second film, "Deviens," takes place in Berck-sur-Mer and features star dancer Mathias Heymann. It is currently being broadcast on OCS and is in competition at numerous international festivals. His upcoming film is titled "Duplicata," and it is currently in post-production.
